The melt includes baked beans, sausages and cheese all wrapped inside a puff pastry cover.

It had to be pulled from shops last year because of supply chain issues, and has been missing from the menu ever since.

Customers were furious that they could no longer bag their fave snack – but Greggs took to social media this week to announce the wait for the pastry snack was over.

It teased the return of the melt on Instagram on January 11 with the post: “The comeback you’ve been waiting for… 2 days to go.”

Hundreds of fans got whipped up into a frenzy over the post, including Jade, who commented: “This better be the sausage been cheese melt or I’m guna kick off hun.”

Other followers commented about Gregg’s cheeky tweet, desperate to bag the snack again.

One joked: “It’s bean too long,” while another fan couldn’t retain his joy, commenting to Greggs: “I love you.”

It comes as Greggs fans were left furious after the store raised the price of a sausage roll by 5p.

The pastry price hike is part of a plan by Greggs to raise charges by 5 to 10% across the entire menu.
